Employment Self-Advocacy (JDEmpSelfAdv-Fal21)

Description
Self-advocacy is the ability to speak-up for yourself and the things that are important to you. Self-advocacy means you are able to ask for what you need and want and tell people about your thoughts and feelings. Every workplace has a set of characteristics, culture, and behavioral and performance expectations. To gain employment and become a valuable employee in the workplace, you need to effectively show and apply your talents and skills. Employment self-advocacy enables you to disclose your disability to the employer, and collaborate with the employer to identify and gain the accommodations that would allow you to perform effectively.
