Job Development Strategy and Positioning (JDStratPos-Fal21)

Description
Looking for a job is the hardest unpaid job you will ever do. In all the busyness that this endeavor entails, it is very easy to lose track of what you are trying to accomplish and the best way to go about it. A thoughtful job development strategy starts with a clear articulation of your strengths, the opportunities that you can target with those strengths, your aspirations with respect to those opportunities, the actions you need to take to realize the opportunities, and the results that help you monitor your progress and make any necessary course corrections.

In this course, you will learn about a strategy planning framework called SOAR Personal Strategy for Employment to help guide, clarify and develop your personal strategy for employment to support your job development journey. You will also learn how to use your SOAR strategy to further develop a personalized roadmap to achieving your job development goals and learn how to conduct the in-depth research necessary to effectively position yourself to attract connections, opportunities, and job offers.

Positioning yourself successfully for employment requires you to lead with your strengths, understand and be able to articulate your unique skills and experience and what makes you an exceptional and compelling job candidate for the desired role and learn how to deliver your personal positioning statement to distinguish yourself from the competition.

Completing this course will help you to:
- Improve your self-awareness of personal strengths and weaknesses, your position in your industry and learn what distinguishes you from the competition.
- Bring a sense of focus to your job development efforts by identifying, establishing and defining your employment goals and aspirations.
- Create a roadmap to outline a clear path for employment.
- Give you the confidence to strategically plan and execute your personal employment strategy and learn how to position yourself for job development success.
